Community Benefit Fund

Our proposal for the Waternish Wind Farm opens up viable opportunities for community participation in the development if it proceeds to construction.

We will work closely with the local community to create a community benefit fund that reflects local ambitions and is distributed as directed by the local community. We will use our resources to support the communities in and around Waternish to address local challenges. These include opportunities for local employment and apprenticeships, as well as affordable housing initiatives on Skye. A significant benefit of construction would also be to make the electricity grid network on Skye more robust.

Brookfield is dedicated to being an active partner in the community and we are enthusiastic to continue our discussions with local residents, community groups and stakeholders on community benefit opportunities. Please get in touch to hear more.

Community Ownership

We believe that Waternish Wind Farm can be a community asset, supporting local aspirations and meeting local needs.

In line with Scottish Government guidance, we are exploring opportunities to provide options for community ownership at the proposed Waternish Wind Farm. At this stage we will be keen to hear from residents and community groups who would like to explore this option further.

Please get in touch to register your interest in community ownership.
